I think my dream gadget has just been invented. It’s laziness at its peak! This gadget is called ‘ReadywhenUR’, an ingenious title when I tell you what this thing can do. You send a SMS text to your kettle and it boils. Can you believe it! I’m definitely going to be getting one of these.
When you send the text, it is sent to the satellite and sent back to the kettle to be received by the built in radio receiver. I can see it now. You are watching telly and want a cup of tea during the adverts but can’t be bothered getting up, going into the kitchen and waiting on the kettle to boil before returning to the sofa only to miss the first two minutes of your favorite TV program.All you have to do is text your kettle (can’t believe I’m saying that) before the break, and all you will have to do is walk in the kitchen and serve your already boiled water.
If you are a gadget lover like me, you’ll go through about 100 texts a month anyway, so sending a text that will boil your kettle sounds like very little effort and what are a few texts when you’re spending hundreds a month on gadgets?
What a cool wedding gift, or house moving present! Great for when you have a friend over for a coffee and it certainly will impress the ladies. When you have been at work all day and just want to sit down to a nice mug of hot chocolate, text your kettle before you arrive and voila.
This amazing kettle can be yours for £100, which is more than your average kettle but will save you time and effort in the long run. No need for a husband or wife to make a cuppa for you, you just need your mobile and a ‘ReadywhenUR’.
I’m usually a trooper when it comes to pain…but this wisdom tooth extraction has just not been treating me very well. Thanks for understanding that I still need a couple more days to recover before getting back on the saddle and writing blog posts again. Don’t worry, I’m not going anywhere!

That’s one of the biggest pieces of advice I could give you this year.

3. Why I Don’t Do ‘X’.
People LOVE controversy. That’s why the news channels thrive on ’bad’ news. Kind of concerning but knowing this can help you instantly increase your email open rates, improve your headlines, and get your articles read.
One of my favorite ways to do this is to use the headline:

I recently used this in an email entitled “Why I Don’t Do SEO”.
As you can imagine, it got QUITE the attention because I was debunking a hot topic within our industry.
If you want to quickly become the market leader in your industry, whip out a few case studies and let people follow along on your journey.
6. Product Showdowns.
Here’s a twist on the traditional product review post. Instead of just reviewing a product – we’re going to do a product showdown comparing 2 similar products and sharing the pros and cons of each.
Some examples might include…
Optimize Press Vs. Kajabi
Rapid Action Profits VS. JVZoo
Tweet Adder Vs. Tweet Attacks
Odesk Vs. Fiverr
You’re providing extra value by comparing similar (and possibly) competing products. Helping your reader to decide which one is best for them.
You can take this a step further by sharing how you personally are using the product. Anything you can do to get beyond the boring, overdone, traditional product review. The old ways of affiliate marketing are dying. But add your own unique twist and you’ll quickly start to see the difference.
7. ‘X’ Things You Must Do After (Blank)
Here’s a super simple one that’s almost always an instant winner. It’s fun and easy to write. Entertaining for your reader and it plays on our natural curiosity.

Use either one of these templates to knock-out a killer blog post when your strapped for ideas.
9. Experimental Posts
The only thing better than living an exciting life is to live vicariously through someone else’s exciting life. You can bring this entertainment factor to your blog by doing experimental posts.
This is basically where you set an interesting goal for yourself and post updates on your progress over a 30-day period.

10. Comprehensive Pillar Posts
This one never gets old. If you’re looking to establish your presence online, one of the best things you can do to stand out is to start creating some epic blog posts.
A ‘pillar’ article is generally longer than the traditional blog post (1,000+ words). This sort of ‘flagship content’ is a comprehensive article dripping in value.
Building a raving audience of fans online all starts with mind-blowing pillar content.
Content that makes people think. Inspires. Creates value. Provides a new perspective. Pushes people out of their comfort zones. Challenges your readers. And creates nothing short of a braingasm!
Because of this, people can’t help but share it with others via Twitter, Facebook, StumbleUpon, etc… So when done properly, your pillar posts should bring in a new burst of readers as well.

As humans, we naturally want to listen in on ‘insider information’.

12. Blog Post Roundup
Here’s an easy one that you can whip up quickly when you’re running short on time. List the top 10 blog posts from the year. Or the top blog posts from around the web that week. Or simply do a ‘Best Of’ post for your industry. This could be the best Twitter posts, forum posts, best blog posts, best news items, best product releases, etc…
Whip up any combination of your choice. You could even do this on a weekly basis. People love these types of posts because it keeps them in the loop on what’s going on in the industry without having to do all the searching themselves.
Kikolani.com does a really good job of this in their ‘Fetching Friday’ posts…
13. Things I Wish I Had Done Differently
These types of posts are almost always a hit because people love to read about other people’s ‘mistakes’. Plus, they provide a ton of value for your readers and help them to avoid common pitfalls.
Give your readers a look behind-the-curtain. Be authentic and transparent and people will love you for it.
Some example headlines might include:

14. The Tools of the Trade
Give people a behind-the-scenes look at the tools you use in your business. People love these types of posts. If you want to take it one step further, shoot a video of your office. You’ll create instant engagement with your readers.

15. Ask / Involve the Reader!!

This sort of timely ‘news’ (i.e. gossip) makes for great content.

‘When my partner and I arrived at the Ivy Mount Guest House we were greeted with a smart looking property. We had walked just five minutes from the Eccles tram stop and found Ivy Mount very easily.
We had previously told Paul (the owner) that we would be arriving late in the evening so he provided us with a key safe and emailed me (very promptly) the combination. This was a brilliant idea, ideal for flexible arrivals.
We walked through the guest house which was very clean and smelt nice. Even though there was nobody there to greet us, it felt welcoming and cosy.
We found our room with ease and were immediately impressed with its size. There was an ironing board and iron, TV and DVD player, hair-drier and tea and coffee making facilities. A welcome booklet provided us with a free wifi code and local information etc. The room was warm and the beds were comfortable, great for relaxing after a hard day\’s shopping.
Our room had a very small en suite. This was in no way a problem for us and we appreciated that it made the best out of a small space.
Downstairs at breakfast we met Paul who was very warm and friendly. There were a good selection of foods to fill up on and the cooked breakfast was very tasty(with runny eggs)!
We stayed two nights at the Ivy Mount Guest House and will definitely be back when we are next in Manchester.’

Reviewed 11 July 2011 Was running late on arrival date so rang owner no problem key left in key safe for me. Had room at top of house but it was nice and cool at night and slept well. Breakfast good and freshly cooked. Plenty of information in room about trams, trains and buses into Manchester and owner had made a map to show directions very helpful. Thank you Paul for the welcome and also business suggestions would stay again if in the area.

Reviewed 28 June 2011 stayed here with 5 friends, we were having a girly shopping day at the trafford centre and needed somewhere nearby to stay.got a very warm welcome and quickly shown to our rooms,paul organised a taxi for us as we were eating out, nothing was too much trouble.i stayed in the front double room, very quiet and comfy, hadnt stayed in a b+b before, only hotels, but would definately go back, breakfast was lovely and we all had a really enjoyable stay.well done to the ivy mount….keep up the good work

Reviewed 22 June 2011 I only stayed the one night and defo would go back… My partner ann was having to stay overnight in hope hospital (salford royal) after an operation due to her renal failure and i needed sumwere to stay.. I rang paul at ivy mount around 7:00pm and he was very freindly and understanding towards my curcumstances and got me my room ready STRAIGHT away!!
The room was very clean and home like.. I felt very relaxed and was very glad of sumwere warm and comfortable to sleep after a very worrying and stressfull day at the hospital!!
The breakfast was very nice and freshly cooked two and there was cereal and choice of cold and hot drinks..
So yeh would highly recommend a stay at ivy mount guest house.
